Dr. Usman Javed was raised in a family that highly valued a healthy mouth. When he fell and damaged his two front teeth as a child, treatment at a mobile dental unit on the army base was “fun” in his eyes. He also loved to accompany his sister to her orthodontic appointments. So, when it came time to choose his career, dental school beat out medical school, and the rest is history.
Dr. Javed approaches dental care first by listening to his patients, without judgement and with the time and interest to learn who they are and what they want for their health. He believes that his job is “not just fixing a tooth — it is a health issue. The health of the mouth impacts the whole body, just like a disease of the heart or the lungs does.” So, to listen and know the whole person and their overall state of health is an important part of the relationship, from the beginning appointment and throughout each following visit.
With this focus on total health, Dr. Javed creates a plan with his patients, doing the right things to achieve a good end result. People appreciate that there is no “convincing” or “negotiating” what is to be done, or as Dr. Javed puts it, “They know I’m on their side.” What patients say is that “no one ever took that time with me before.” And when the end result is that patients can eat foods they have not eaten in years, or no longer have to hide a smile behind a hand, Dr. Javed knows his work has been a success.
Outside of dentistry Dr. Javed enjoys spending time at the gym and swimming. And you will not find a more passionate soccer fan anywhere! Manchester United is his team and his passion is for collecting team jerseys. Dr. Javed lives with his wife, Dr. Sheikh, their young son and a beloved cat. They will soon be moving to southern New Hampshire from Massachusetts.

Hajra Sheikh, DMD

Dr. Hajra Sheikh is someone who always knew what she wanted to do in life — she wanted to become a dentist. While in dental school she considered specializing in children’s dentistry, but she decided that serving adults too allowed her to care for whole families with a bigger impact towards helping everyone be healthier. She loves what she is doing!
Dr. Sheikh’s focus is not just on the teeth and mouth — it is helping people become healthier overall and improve their state of total well-being. Whether it is nutrition, daily habits or the stresses that happen in life, the results of those factors and more will show up in your oral and overall health. She helps people discover those connections and offers choices for making changes towards keeping teeth for a lifetime and greater health over the years.
Dr. Sheikh has an innate passion for learning and staying up-to-date with the expanding knowledge and skills that have become a part health care and dentistry these days. You will find that she is determined to give you the best care and results possible. And because she partners with the two specialists on the NHCCD dental team, you will have more options and excellent results for a wider range of treatments to restore or replace your teeth.
To ensure that your dental treatment is comfortable and anxiety-free, a variety of comfort and anti-anxiety measures, including oral and IV sedation, are available during restorative and cosmetic dentistry with Dr. Sheikh.
Dr. Sheikh worked in a number of dental practices around the Boston area before joining NHCCD. Fun fact: she has a twin sister (also a dentist!) who has a practice in Maine! Dr. Sheikh lives in Massachusetts with her husband, Dr. Javed, their young son and one furry kid/cat. She enjoys traveling, listening to TED talks and learning anything new.

Lucas Patrick, DMD
Periodontist
A native of Indonesia, Dr. Patrick moved to the United States in 2001. He began his undergraduate work at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in electrical and computer engineering from Cornell University in Ithaca, NY, in 2006. He received his Doctor of Dental Medicine from the Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine in 2010, where he earned the Goldman School of Dental Medicine Dean’s Award and the Outstanding Achievement Award in Research for his pre-doctoral research in dental biomaterials.
Dr. Patrick has always been interested in dental surgery. After earning his DMD, he spent one year at Boston University in an oral and maxillofacial surgery internship. He worked as a general dentist in private practice and community clinics in Maine for several years before returning to the Boston and Harvard University School of Dental Medicine for his Master of Medical Science and his periodontics certificate.
Dr. Patrick is a soccer aficionado who also looks forward to traveling and trying out new local restaurants with his wife.

Maria A. Rejon, DMD

Dr. Maria Antonieta Rejon M. is a dedicated dental specialist with over 15 years of experience in the field. Throughout her career, she has honed her skills in developing effective treatment plans and providing personalized patient care through quality service and communication. Bilingual in English and Spanish, with additional knowledge of Italian and French, Dr. Maria has demonstrated her commitment to diverse patient populations. Her extensive skill set includes oral surgery, anesthetic administration and oral hygiene management, making her a versatile and highly skilled professional in the dental field.
Maria’s professional journey includes significant roles such as a Consultant and Curriculum Developer, where she has been instrumental in helping foreign dentists pass essential exams like NBDE Part I, NBDE Part II and INDBE. Her previous roles as a dental assistant and front desk associate at Indian Trace Dental in Weston, FL, and as the dentist and owner of Las Tres Gracias in Venezuela, highlight her hands-on experience in both clinical and administrative aspects of dental practice. Dr. Maria has also contributed to educating patients about oral hygiene, plaque control and post-operative care, showcasing her dedication to comprehensive patient education and care.
Dr. Maria’s academic achievements are equally impressive. She earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine, where she graduated with high honors and received prestigious awards like Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU). Additionally, Dr. Maria holds a master’s degree in Oral Surgery from the Caribbean International University in Venezuela, where she excelled academically. Her areas of expertise encompass a wide range of dental procedures, including implants, guided tissue regeneration and the management of dental pathology. Dr. Maria’s certifications in expanded functions, HIPAA and OSHA training further attest to her commitment to maintaining high standards of patient care and safety.
